As of 2022 nearly 50% of all Medicare recipients were enrolled in Medicare Advantage. The trend is expected to grow. Despite its numerous benefits, Original Medicare can be a burden for many, especially if Medigap expenses are added to cover co-pays, co-insurance, and Part D for prescriptions. Medicare Advantage (Part C) provides the benefits of Parts A, B, and often even D. The co-pays are usually lower and there’s no need for Medigap. These plans offer financial protection through a maximum out-of-pocket expense stipulation, and almost all also offer benefits that are not included in Original Medicare (i.e., basic vision, dental, and fitness classes). It's easy to see why so many folks opt for privately owned Medicare Advantage plans.
